SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Following the great success of the 2008 FBR Open, the PGA TOUR will return to Scottsdale this fall for the Frys.com Open (formerly the Fry’s Electronics Open) at Grayhawk Golf Club. Part of the PGA TOUR’s Fall Series, the $5 million official money event will be played on Grayhawk’s Raptor Course, Oct. 22-26, with all four rounds being televised by The Golf Channel.

“The 2007 Fry’s Electronics Open was a tremendous success and we are excited to be holding this event in Scottsdale at Grayhawk again this year,” said Randy Fry, president of Fry’s Electronics. “The Thunderbirds did a wonderful job hosting the event in 2007 and we look forward to their support once again this year.”

Mike Weir won the inaugural Fry’s Electronics Open last October at Grayhawk, edging out Mark Hensby on the final hole to win the $900,000 first place check. Former FBR Open champions Phil Mickelson, Aaron Baddeley, J.B. Holmes, Mark Calcavecchia and Tom Lehman were just a few of the notables in the field last year, along with local favorites Billy Mayfair, Arron Oberholser, Ted Purdy, Jeff Quinney and Kirk Triplett.

“The Raptor Course at Grayhawk is a great place to host a golf tournament, and as defending champion, I look forward to returning this fall,” Weir said. A tournament staff, along with sponsorship packages, ticket information and official website will be announced shortly.

The Frys.com Open is part of the PGA TOUR’s Fall Series and will feature a full-field (132 players), four-day tournament with a $5 million purse and $900,000 payout to the winner. The Frys.com Open will be played Oct. 22-26, 2008, at Grayhawk Golf Club’s Raptor Course, and the tournament will be televised all four days on The Golf Channel.
